| | I Cut Myself, Too by Gob | ] | Apologies for the lack of an entry yesterday; I got distracted by a new online time-waster: Adventure Quest. Not that you really care, probably, but I felt guilty. Entries'll probably be fairly sporadic for the next three weeks or so anyway.
Quote of the day (yesterday): "I paid good money for that blood!" -Black (Yeah, he isn't a vampire...)
Um. Yesterday was the last day of term.
I got to school at a normal time for me, and filched the keys. I then waited around for like half an hour for Miniutti (That right, Steson? Mreh.) to turn up. When she did, she told me I'd missed a step... Whee... Everybody was weirded out by the green 'pop rocks' that were supposed to be poured over the cereal.
First period was photography. I handed in my assessment (No Tuesday!). I went and took down all the photos that'd been hanging in the library for the teacher and then lazed about doing very little but looking industrious.
Second was SDD. As Lucas put it, we "investigated the properties of games". I spent a fair bit of the time watching Black play Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 on his laptop. He bought a 'blood' cheat (Ups the gore level) and was disappointed with it (hence the QOTD).
Third was Ancient History, where we listened to the last of the speeches and then got our marks back. 15/20 for the essay, 36/40 for the speech. WOW... How did I do that WELL?
Fourth was English. I got the teacher to listen to Something Corporate and otherwise didn't do much.
During lunch, Roland was plying everyone with chips again. Sounds good to me. I got out a can of coke that I'd brought from home, and much to my surprised, it didn't escape everywhere when I opened it. At half time I went to talk to Cobban and then handed the note in to Miniutti. Yay... I'm potentially recieving an extension for the Extension assessment task... When I got back, Roland was ranting to Fiona about how nobody cares if people are 'pure'. Dear little Fiona; some days, she's as bad as Trish.
Fifth was Maths. There was a total of three people in the class; including Darcy, who had to do the assessment task. So Dee and I negotiated with the teacher to wander around the school "so we didn't disturb him". We had to leave our bags in the classroom as a guarantee that we wouldn't simply go home. I wandered around, visiting various classrooms, until I found Black and Jingya in R4. Black was playing on his laptop (is anyone surprised?) so I sat around and watched them. Dee eventually found me. Five minutes before the end of the period, we returned to retrieve our bags.
I had a free sixth, but I couldn't be bothered going home, so I stuck around for the next period as well. Black and Bernadette started singing weird annoying pop songs. Ms Johnson bought several Freddo frogs to share out amongst the class; I didn't take any, on grounds that I was going to the movies on Saturday, a get together on Sunday, and America on Sunday week. I hardly needed MORE junk food. The teacher let us sneak out five minutes before the bell. Not that I couldn't have left at any time, but anyway.
I caught the bus home, and then lazed about happily in the knowledge that the holidays had officially begun.
Today was good.
This morning I woke up at 7:20. I lazed around playing Ultima IX: Ascension and reading The Ill-Made Mute in the morning. Somewhere in that time period, my back decided to hurt. I took a panadol, not that there was any appreciable difference, and then left the house at about ten to eleven. I walked up to the shops; the local video store was having a sale, so I went to see if there was anything decent (there wasn't).
At almost exactly eleven o'clock, I caught the 438 into town. The ride took about 35 minutes, during which I kept very still to stop my back complaining. When I arrived at George st, I checked whether my freebie tickets were valid (they were) and then went to buy a large bag of chips and a big bottle of coke. I then walked back to the side of town hall. Both Rix and Steson arrived ON TIME... Wow... I think Stephen Bernard was waiting for someone on the steps... That amuses me greatly, for no apparent reason.
We went and bought our tickets, because the line was negliable. We then headed off to Kings' Comics to claim our free comics. They had guys doing drawings as well (for FREE, no less), so I said to them, "For amusement factor, do a picture of him *Points at Steson* as a superhero". The guy's like, "Amusement factor, eh?". He then draws this picture that Steson'd KILL me if I put it up on the web; and Rix and I are both cracking up loudly in the background as the guy's drawing it (when Steson saw what it was, he started yelling "This is all YOUR fault" at me). The artist guy also gave me some sketch he did of one of the Ninja Turtles saying something like "We can't be lovers, but I hope we can still be friends". I also got a poster of some comic called The Watch (the comic we got freebie).
We returned to George st to have lunch. Rix and I both got Maccas, and Steson bought himself a coffee from Starbucks. We ate that, and then wandered around for the half hour or so till the movie started. We went to the War Memorial, which was open, and wandered inside. We discovered that there is actually a LAW against "Loitering or eating and/or drinking" on the steps of the war memorial (Of course, there's no mention of INSIDE...), presumably because they consider it disrespectful, or something. We took a look at the top level, and then headed back to the cinemas. Rix was being random, saying that there must also be a law against "skinny dipping on the steps". It took Steson quite a while to figure out he was just being Rix.
Shrek 2 was amusing. I'm no good at movie reviews, so I won't bother. I could see a number of the jokes coming, though.
After the movie finished, we headed out to try and help Steson find birthday presents for The Twins. The theme of the party is apparently going to be "90s Nostalgia" - see why he needed help? We tried assorted El Cheapo CD shops, with him rejecting every suggested title because they didn't have Aqua on them (seriously). We headed to Grace Bros... No, hang on, it's Myer now, isn't it? ...to Myer, and I found a number of options there, and he rejected those options, as well. I eventually gave up and found a nice couch to sit on; my back was KILLING me. We then went and grabbed Rix, who was investigating some gamecube game he was desperate to buy. They didn't have it, so we headed to HMV, where Steson FINALLY chose a CD. And then I was given permission to lug it. Thanks, boyo. Though, oddly enough, my back hurt less when I was wearing the backpack.
We headed over to Borders, and I sat reading a book about photography while Rix and Steson wandered about, looking at stuff. When they both got bored, we discussed what we were going to do next. Eventually, we decided to go laugh at the assorted clothing in David Jones. GODS, some of that stuff was terrible. Even the GUYS' clothing now comes with frills! Let's not even MENTION the girls' stuff, most of that was TRULY hideous. The mens' and womens' stuff was in different buildings in DJs, so I have to wonder what the saleswoman thought when I asked her where the womens' clothing was, with two guys in tow.
Steson had to leave at about this point, and Rix and I continued our survey of the clothing and then his search for that game. It didn't work, and by the time we'd finished, it was about 5:30. I convinced him to walk as far as Town Hall... But as we got to Broadway, my bus went past. So we basically said goodbye in about twenty words: Me: "That's my bus! I have to go!" Rix: "Where's Town Hall?!?" Me: "That *points* is the QVB." Rix: "Oh. Bye." Me: "Bye."
I zoned out through the bus ride, and then got home at about 6PM.
My back still hurts... And Rix and Steson, I expect reports from you two as well. ;D. -Mmaster |
