Woo! I win at Adventure Quest! I finally scraped together enough gold to buy the Nightmare Plate. It is inarguably the best armour in the game (there are a few that defeat it on an individual stat basis, but nothing close to its overall power).

And it is now mine. :D!

Look! I have a new house!

Admittedly, I can't afford to customise it right now. But it increases in sell back value, so in a few weeks I can buy pictures and stuff for the wall.

I've had Letters To Noelle by Something Corporate in my head on repeat today. I don't know why.

Sometime I want to redo that meme where the writer lists their favourite lyrics and everyone guesses the songs. However, looking back at my previous attempt, including a cheat sheet would probably not be a bad idea. Even I don't know what some of those songs are any more...

And now, it's time to walk the dog so I can go to bed.

IceFall armour.

50% against Ice.

25% chance of absorbing fire attacks and increasing HP/MP. (Prob'ly won't be using that, since it's weak as Hell against Fire. But still.)
15% chance of revive on death.
Bonus attacks.

...OMFG.

I attained Level 78 in Adventure Quest today. Yes, it's a pretty darn random achievement, but given the snail's pace that you progress through the game, it feels like an accomplishment. I'm currently maxing out the number of potions I can carry, and then trying to find a crystal blade for my custom weapon - because it's a good way to get XP and Gold (and, to a lesser extent, Z-Tokens); it gives you something to aim for, which will give an instant improvement to a section of game play as soon as you get it, and the appearance of the item is entirely random, making it a little more interesting. As opposed to the items that I'm saving up for, which cost twice as much gold as I currently have, and six and a half times as much gold as I currently have, respectively. Yeah, I don't think I'll get them for a while. Especially given my tendency to find better obsessions on a regular basis.

...Yes, I fully expect to be the only one that understood that paragraph.

I'm playing Adventure Quest at the moment (Just 45 thousand XP to level 75! Woo!), and I am currently fighting an "Elite Hybee Soldier". The description for this particular monster reads
An elite Hybee fighter has trained for years. They are the chief defenders of their Queen from the forces of darkness that want to steal the Queen's life boosting pheromones.
...However, this creature receives almost double the damage if you bash it with a darkness attack. How the Hell are they supposed to defend against dark when they're so weak against it?

...Uh. "Work"? What is this thing you speak of?

Apparently after lunch I was behaving on autopilot.

*Dad walks in, holding a large block of cheese
Dad: Why did you write it on the list?
Mm: What? I didn't!
Dad: "Tasty cheese", it said. Are you really going through it that quickly?
Mm: It wasn't me...
Dad: Oh, I found those missing Jatz biscuits, by the way. They were under the sink, next to the cordial.
Mm: ... *facepalm*

In other news, yesterday I baked a chocolate cake. (Assuming I can actually spell 'chocolate', and don't instead type "choloocate".) It is tasty, as most who have tried my chocolate cakes can attest.

...Adventure Quest is lagging badly (/crashing halfway through battles) a lot this evening. The fact our cap's maxing our download speed out at around 10KB/s, it isn't really surprising. It's probably Connor trying to tell me to go and study - but I'm working very hard at not listening to that.

My fingernails are dirty. I clean them out, and ten minutes there's dirt under there again. Sigh. I think it's winning.

...This had very little content. Stupid not really having anytihng to say and stuff. ...I really can't type this evening, dammit...
-Mmaster

EDIT: Oh, something I did want to add (Yay! Content!):
Today there was a skywriter, adding various messages that were close to blown away before they were completed. Apparently today was Christian Propaganda Day, with "Trust in Jesus Alone" and "Jesus Saves" both featuring prominently in the short time I was watching. The religious message didn't interest me, but I took photos of the word "Trust" and the word "Alone", each already half destroyed by the wind. The idea that two such fundemental human concepts are so fragile and transient intrigued me.
At Steson's request, the two photos... )

Things of note:

My friends act like manic depressives on a regular basis.

We should totally have a party in the evening after the Physics/Ext. History exams. Most people are finished on or by that date. Assuming that Fiona doesn't do Economics (and nobody can remember whether she does or not), we might even be able to scam her into turning up. Who's up for it? And what should we do?

My Dad brought home some magazine for me called Jumpbutton. It's about videogame art. And it's very, VERY cool.

I like the ringlets my hair turns into when washed, brushed, then left to dry.

I managed to get some stuff done today. Even if I was very tempted to go straight back to bed after breakfast. I went back to bed and read for an hour before I convinced myself to get up again.
* I read through the miscellaneous English notes; the ones saying things like "This is how to write an exposition".
* I skimmed the Coleridge notes.
* I got to the end of Space in Physics, even if I didn't, really.
* I typed out half of Quanta to Quarks at Shaun and Stevie, in the hopes that some of it might go in.
* I did an hour's worth of questions with my Physics tutor, as well, making it through a fair wad of further questions.

I'm leveling up my secondary character a little in Adventure Quest. The X-Boost tempts me. The precioussss... It calllls to usssss....

I want an R.I.P. L.O.L. tshirt.

I wish the HSC would die in a dark corner and go to Hell.

I was singing the lyrics to The Jets Song from West Side Story today at random intervals.

Black has gone completely freaking psycho. As is evidenced by this post.

Today I downloaded Blister in the Sun by The Violent Femmes. It's a good track. I added it to my "dl" playlist. I don't remember why I called it 'dl'.

I should repair Connor, so I can actually use MSN 7 properly and other such things. But nobody ever says anything anyway.

Beccy, I'm the only one that can see your last post; while you said it wasn't an indepth description, the others have missed their chance to feel your gratitude. :P.

It felt like I spent a lot of today saying that things "made sense in my head".

...What?

[music |When Doves Cry - as they sing it in Romeo and Juliet]

Last night, I got to bed at 12:15ish, after watching a movie on DVD.

I woke up at like 4 o'clock, sighed, and tried to go back to sleep. Images from the movie wouldn't leave me alone.

I eventually dozed off again. As I woke up, I was dreaming that AQ characters were trying to get into our house to attack them. We shut the driveway gates, and this creature -the forerunner to the others- got over the fence. It was in bandages and on a crutch, becaue I had fought it before. I handed my green (earth) spear to someone, and needed it back to fight the monsters. They didn't know where it was.

Then I woke up.

I think I might have to try and force myself to do work today. Though I hate to imagine what kinds of dreams would be inspired by overdosing on Maths. Or any of my other subjects, for that matter.

*Sigh*

[music |Where To Begin, Bowling For Soup]

Woot: Mum put me online this morning.
Grrr: I tried several times to download Alison's movie, and each time it failed less than a Meg from the end, leaving someone in the middle of something random.
Woot: We're supposed to be getting ADSL sometime this month. Which should reduce that problem.
Woot: I've reached Level 51 in Adventure Quest.
Grrr: It means that I have to fight much harder bosses for the same rewards, now.
Grrr: I accidentally knocked the power cable out of the computer this morning, meaning I got disconnected.
Grrr: Because our current connection is 28.8k University dial-up and it requires a password I don't have, if it goes down in any way and my parents are unavailable, I just have to lump it. Thus, I was without internet for the rest of the day.
Woot: I read a little bit of the Physics textbook, to keep my parents happy, and understood some of what I read.
Woot: I got some more of the longstitch that I've been working on, vaguely, for ages done.
Woot: I've just found a way to get decent screen caps of DVDs. They get a little distorted, dimension-wise, in the process, but that's easily editable.
Grrr: Deb owes me an email.
Grrr: Michelle (tutor person)'s coming on Thursday, so I have to pretend to know something Physics- and Maths- related by then - hence the looking the Physics book. THINKING???? IN THE HOLIDAYS???? HERESY!

GRAH! WOULD THE DAY PLEASE MAKE UP ITS MIND?!?!?!?

City with Steson and Rix [Jul. 3rd, 2004|08:50 pm]

[mood | tired, sore, but happy]
[music |I Cut Myself, Too by Gob]

Apologies for the lack of an entry yesterday; I got distracted by a new online time-waster: Adventure Quest. Not that you really care, probably, but I felt guilty. Entries'll probably be fairly sporadic for the next three weeks or so anyway.

Quote of the day (yesterday):
"I paid good money for that blood!" -Black (Yeah, he isn't a vampire...)

Um. Yesterday was the last day of term.

I got to school at a normal time for me, and filched the keys. I then waited around for like half an hour for Miniutti (That right, Steson? Mreh.) to turn up. When she did, she told me I'd missed a step... Whee... Everybody was weirded out by the green 'pop rocks' that were supposed to be poured over the cereal.

First period was photography. I handed in my assessment (No Tuesday!). I went and took down all the photos that'd been hanging in the library for the teacher and then lazed about doing very little but looking industrious.

Second was SDD. As Lucas put it, we "investigated the properties of games". I spent a fair bit of the time watching Black play Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 on his laptop. He bought a 'blood' cheat (Ups the gore level) and was disappointed with it (hence the QOTD).

Third was Ancient History, where we listened to the last of the speeches and then got our marks back. 15/20 for the essay, 36/40 for the speech. WOW... How did I do that WELL?

Fourth was English. I got the teacher to listen to Something Corporate and otherwise didn't do much.

During lunch, Roland was plying everyone with chips again. Sounds good to me. I got out a can of coke that I'd brought from home, and much to my surprised, it didn't escape everywhere when I opened it. At half time I went to talk to Cobban and then handed the note in to Miniutti. Yay... I'm potentially recieving an extension for the Extension assessment task... When I got back, Roland was ranting to Fiona about how nobody cares if people are 'pure'. Dear little Fiona; some days, she's as bad as Trish.

Fifth was Maths. There was a total of three people in the class; including Darcy, who had to do the assessment task. So Dee and I negotiated with the teacher to wander around the school "so we didn't disturb him". We had to leave our bags in the classroom as a guarantee that we wouldn't simply go home. I wandered around, visiting various classrooms, until I found Black and Jingya in R4. Black was playing on his laptop (is anyone surprised?) so I sat around and watched them. Dee eventually found me. Five minutes before the end of the period, we returned to retrieve our bags.

I had a free sixth, but I couldn't be bothered going home, so I stuck around for the next period as well. Black and Bernadette started singing weird annoying pop songs. Ms Johnson bought several Freddo frogs to share out amongst the class; I didn't take any, on grounds that I was going to the movies on Saturday, a get together on Sunday, and America on Sunday week. I hardly needed MORE junk food. The teacher let us sneak out five minutes before the bell. Not that I couldn't have left at any time, but anyway.

I caught the bus home, and then lazed about happily in the knowledge that the holidays had officially begun.

Today was good.

This morning I woke up at 7:20. I lazed around playing Ultima IX: Ascension and reading The Ill-Made Mute in the morning. Somewhere in that time period, my back decided to hurt. I took a panadol, not that there was any appreciable difference, and then left the house at about ten to eleven. I walked up to the shops; the local video store was having a sale, so I went to see if there was anything decent (there wasn't).

At almost exactly eleven o'clock, I caught the 438 into town. The ride took about 35 minutes, during which I kept very still to stop my back complaining. When I arrived at George st, I checked whether my freebie tickets were valid (they were) and then went to buy a large bag of chips and a big bottle of coke. I then walked back to the side of town hall. Both Rix and Steson arrived ON TIME... Wow... I think Stephen Bernard was waiting for someone on the steps... That amuses me greatly, for no apparent reason.

We went and bought our tickets, because the line was negliable. We then headed off to Kings' Comics to claim our free comics. They had guys doing drawings as well (for FREE, no less), so I said to them, "For amusement factor, do a picture of him *Points at Steson* as a superhero". The guy's like, "Amusement factor, eh?". He then draws this picture that Steson'd KILL me if I put it up on the web; and Rix and I are both cracking up loudly in the background as the guy's drawing it (when Steson saw what it was, he started yelling "This is all YOUR fault" at me). The artist guy also gave me some sketch he did of one of the Ninja Turtles saying something like "We can't be lovers, but I hope we can still be friends". I also got a poster of some comic called The Watch (the comic we got freebie).

We returned to George st to have lunch. Rix and I both got Maccas, and Steson bought himself a coffee from Starbucks. We ate that, and then wandered around for the half hour or so till the movie started. We went to the War Memorial, which was open, and wandered inside. We discovered that there is actually a LAW against "Loitering or eating and/or drinking" on the steps of the war memorial (Of course, there's no mention of INSIDE...), presumably because they consider it disrespectful, or something. We took a look at the top level, and then headed back to the cinemas. Rix was being random, saying that there must also be a law against "skinny dipping on the steps". It took Steson quite a while to figure out he was just being Rix.

Shrek 2 was amusing. I'm no good at movie reviews, so I won't bother. I could see a number of the jokes coming, though.

After the movie finished, we headed out to try and help Steson find birthday presents for The Twins. The theme of the party is apparently going to be "90s Nostalgia" - see why he needed help? We tried assorted El Cheapo CD shops, with him rejecting every suggested title because they didn't have Aqua on them (seriously). We headed to Grace Bros... No, hang on, it's Myer now, isn't it? ...to Myer, and I found a number of options there, and he rejected those options, as well. I eventually gave up and found a nice couch to sit on; my back was KILLING me. We then went and grabbed Rix, who was investigating some gamecube game he was desperate to buy. They didn't have it, so we headed to HMV, where Steson FINALLY chose a CD. And then I was given permission to lug it. Thanks, boyo. Though, oddly enough, my back hurt less when I was wearing the backpack.

We headed over to Borders, and I sat reading a book about photography while Rix and Steson wandered about, looking at stuff. When they both got bored, we discussed what we were going to do next. Eventually, we decided to go laugh at the assorted clothing in David Jones. GODS, some of that stuff was terrible. Even the GUYS' clothing now comes with frills! Let's not even MENTION the girls' stuff, most of that was TRULY hideous. The mens' and womens' stuff was in different buildings in DJs, so I have to wonder what the saleswoman thought when I asked her where the womens' clothing was, with two guys in tow.

Steson had to leave at about this point, and Rix and I continued our survey of the clothing and then his search for that game. It didn't work, and by the time we'd finished, it was about 5:30. I convinced him to walk as far as Town Hall... But as we got to Broadway, my bus went past. So we basically said goodbye in about twenty words: Me: "That's my bus! I have to go!" Rix: "Where's Town Hall?!?" Me: "That *points* is the QVB." Rix: "Oh. Bye." Me: "Bye."

I zoned out through the bus ride, and then got home at about 6PM.

My back still hurts... And Rix and Steson, I expect reports from you two as well. ;D.
