| What was that about "A change is as good as a holiday"? I'm unconvinced. |

| | Man In Black, Johnny Cash | ] | Today is Mother's Day. My mother told me she didn't want anything - she has enough stuff to dust, thanks. She doesn't need anything pink, anything fluffy, anything useless.
*Mm is looking through the pieces of paper on the dining table. Mm: Hey wow! Having spent nearly $40,000 on your credit card rewards program, you can get $200 cash back! Dad: Yeah. They sent me a catalogue of things I could get for Mother's Day. We could get her a pink electric frypan! Mm: A pink fluffy electric frypan! Dad: Maybe we could make one as an art statement. Mm: Yeah! "The Summation Of Womanhood"!
In other news, large portions of this weekend were spent dismantling my room, laying my new carpet down, then reassembling my room. In the process, my tent exploded (nearly killing both Chris and my mother), so we decided that it was probably hazardous and should be removed. And when I removed the mattress from my lower bunk I discovered that the supporting metal was at a distinctly not 180 degree angle, with a dangerous-looking break in both pieces, so we declared that dead as well. Also, in the process of putting everything back, my copy of On The Terrace fell off and shattered, so I'll need to get that reglazed.
Lacking a number of key pieces of furniture allowed me to reconfigure my room, which basically amounted to swapping the location of the desk and the mattress (which is what I am currently sleeping on).
Hence, I am now in the market for a new bed. Having lost my couch, I'm tempted by a double bed, though I'm not 100% sure that it will quite fit. It has a lot of advantages, though - if people visit, at least three people can sit on it comfortably. But it still should fit in the space I have available.
I've also been re-wiring the stereo speakers, though I now need to find some way to get a copper-on-copper connection to work. Speaking of which, I might go and find my father to see if he has any bright ideas. -Mmaster
PS: Pix or it didn't happen: 1, 2. Still to change: * Find a bed! The green mattress is about the size of a double bed, so I'm using that as a guide. * Get On The Terrace re-glazed, and actually hang it this time. * Lower the height of the pictures that used to be beside the top bunk, or shift them so they hang over the bookcase. * Frame and hang a few of the pictures currently cluttering my bookshelves. * Finish re-wiring my stereo. * Get some new curtains; Mum was suggesting plain cream or something. We plan to hijack the ones from the tent as an experiment; they'll almost certainly be much too short, but they should at least give an idea of what it might look like. |
