This evening, one of EGG's many Andrews came to ProgSoc, to get his account activated.
While he was there, he was complaining about his Internet connection. I can back him up in his angst, since I frequently have chat convos with him that go like this:
*Conversation
*Andrew goes offline
*Andrew comes online again
Mm: Welcome back.
Andrew: I was gone?
Mm: Well, you appeared to be offline, and now you're online again, so I'm assuming so...?
Andrew: Sorry, somebody rang me. Every time the phone rings, the Internet cuts out.
Mm: ...
So, Noah and I had some more discussion with Andrew about the layout of his network. It turned out that he had the filter the wrong way around - the ADSL traffic was being filtered instead of the phone traffic.
Noah: ...Why are you filtering your ADSL?
Andrew: Because I tried filtering the phone line, and it didn't seem to work.
Mm: Well, why don't you switch it 'round, and see if it helps?
Andrew: Hrm. I wonder if I could get my brother to do that...
*Andrew sends an SMS to his brother
Ten minutes later, he was on the phone to his brother.
Andrew: And the Internet? The Internet is working? ... Awesome!
*Mm and Noah laugh at Andrew
Andrew: Shut up! Shut up!!!!
Mm: So, are we worth your ten dollars membership?
Andrew: Yep. You're definitely worth my five dollars membership.
Mm: :D!
